Are you looking for Cars Illinois? Check out the top Chicago resource today!

Q: Where is a good place to buy a car in Rockford, Illinois for a first time buyer?
I am a first time buyer, and I would like to buy a car in or around Rockford, Illinois. Any suggestions as to where or where not to buy a car? and if you would like to, why? Thanks!

A: Carmax has a number of locations in the Chicago metro area which are more reliable than private dealers and/or “buy here, pay here” used car dealers.

Q: Do I need to register my car in Dallas, TX if my license plates are from Illinois?
I just bought a car in Illinois and I will get IL license plates but I will be moving down to Dallas, TX shortly so I was wondering if I need to register my vehicle in IL or in TX or in both?

A: Just Texas, when you get there.
They will take the Ill plates away from you.

Q: Can I register my car in Illinois if my registration has expired in California?
I just moved to Illinois and just realized my registration in California expired today!! It’s too late to renew today and I was wondering if I would have to first pay the registration fees in California and then pay for the registration in Illinois or if I could just go and register in Illinois since I am no longer a resident of California.

A: Register it in the state in which you live. You will have to transfer the title, and registration.

Check the Illinois Secretary of State website to see the requirements particular to your situation.

http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/

You may find this publication from the Illinois Secretary of State for new residents helpful.

http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/pdf_publications/vsd271.pdf

Q: At what age is a child able to sit in the front passener seat of a car? Illinois?
I am having a hard time finding this online. If you can post the link, that would be FANTASTIC!!
I FINALLY FOUND IT! It’s 8. Thanks for trying to help!! http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/rules_of_the_road/rr_chap03.html
And actually, although it says 8, it recommends 12 and up…due to air bag dangers.

A: When they can fit in an adult seat belt.

Q: I was just wondering how much it costs to transfer a car tittle in illinois?
My parents bought me a car when i was 16 and im now 19 and they told me i can put it in my name finally. so does anyone know how much that costs in illinois?

A: The Illinois DMV can tell you, or check their web site. Remember that you may have to pay sales/excise taxes on the car besides the regular fee.

Q: How do I donate an older car in Illinois and will I be able to deduct it from my taxes?
It’s a very old 93′ Ford Escort that is barely running. I have been told that it is not possible to donate such an old car and receive the tax break.

Thanks!

A: You can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 they might be able to help.
For the future you can try Uncle Tax: http://www.UncleTax.com you will be able to file all you late and current tax returns here and they will answer all questions you have. I use this online service to do my taxes and I can always go back to them for any questions, Good Luck

Q: How to register a car in Illinois in a company name?
I’m about to buy a car from an individual for my small business. What are the steps to follow to complete that successfully in terms of title/registration/…

A: Under “buyer” on the back of the title, put your business name and sign as the legal representative of the company. Call your DMV to find out what other paperwork you will need to bring. Before you go to the DMV you will need to get insurance on the car. You will have to purchase a business auto policy for this car. You CANNOT put it on your personal auto policy because it is not in your personal name.

Q: Can a Wisconsin police officer pull over a car from Illinois that has no front license plate?
Is it a legal basis for a traffic stop?
Thank you for the sources.

A: This depends on the reciprocity agreement between states, but if you are operating a vehicle in a state that requires two plates, you are technically responsible for operating the vehicle with the required equipment.

However, you are incorrect in your assumption that it is legal to drive with no front license plate in Illinois. The front LP is required in both Wisconsin AND Illinois, which would make the answer to your question, yes.

Also … most state and local police use this as a method to pull you over for another violation which holds a higher fine (and they cannot pull you over for it like seat belts). Usually they will not pull you over solely for the missing front license plate.

Q: Where can I buy an inexpensive excellent running car in illinois?
I am a mother of four with limited income in search of a minivan at the cheapest price possible, but, I need something that is dependable as well as cheap. Any suggestions?

A: try the auto auction

Q: is it illegal to carry a firearm in your car in Illinois? Or a tazer while your at work?
I live in chicago but I work in Burr Ridge. I want to know if it’s legal to carry a firearm (long gun) in your car while in a case unloaded and also if you have a FOID card can you have a tazer on you while your at work. I read that you can have it while at your place of business. Im an employee not an owner. Do you know what that means exactly?

A: An employer can make the rules in their business. An employer can carry on premises, you are not an employer. That same employer can grant you permission to carry a weapon on premises, but is under no obligation to do so. If they say no weapons and think you just have to carry a tazer, you would need to find a new job.

Q: Is it legal to carry a knife in a car in Illinois?
16 year old driver, the knife would be kept out of view in the car.
I park next to a school.

A: Only if you work for Acorn.

Q: What do I need to do to sell my car in Illinois?
The title won’t be sent from the bank until 10 days after it is paid off. Is there a paper that needs to be filled out so the buyer will get the title? What other paperwork do I need to have in order to sell it to a private buyer?

A: You will either need to wait for the title after you pay it off or go to the bank that holds the title with the buyer.

I would never give you a dime until I got the title for the vehicle I was buying.

Q: How can I get out of a car finance contract in Illinois?
I just bought a car today and I regret it. I believe that I have 72 hours to cancel the deal in the state of Illinois. Does anyone know for sure?

A: I just answered a similar question regarding the state of Indiana. Unfortunately, you’re out of luck; no such law exists. Most MVPCs (Motor Vehicle Purchase Contracts) have a detailed fine print section on the back of the customer copy. Look for a line that states, “If you have taken delivery of this vehcile, this contract is binding and final.”

Q: how long will it take to ship a car from illinois to nigeria?
i recently bought a car in illinois and want to ship it to lagos, nigeria

A: And I bet they are offering you a whole lot of money for the car, right? Those Nigerians are coming up with new scams all the time. They are doing a thing now where they use a Paypal clone site to get your log in info and then they get access to your bank account.

Q: Are scrolling LED signs illegal to have displayed in your car in Illinois?
Does anyone know if the scrolling led signs illegal to have in your car in Illinois? If you don’t know what i’m talking about, it’s this

http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/car/afe6/

they also come as license plate frames.

A: 1. Vehicles must have a white light making the license plate readable from 50 feet away. The light must be on whenever headlights are lighted………

2. Flashing or moving lights other than turn signals or hazard indicators are prohibited. This does not apply to police or emergency vehicles…………

Q: What is the average cost for shipping a car from Greensboro, North carolina to Chicago, Illinois?
What is the average cost for shipping a car across country more specifically Greensboro, North carolina to Chicago, Illinois?

A: there is a cool site called www.uship.com that allows you to list stuff on the site for free and receive bids from truckers to transport it. due to the reverse-auction format most of the time you can find a great price. i entered the details of your shipment into the uship price estimator and it came up with $528. definitely worth looking into…

Q: Where can i get black car paint in or near Chicago? thanks?
Im thinking of repainting my car and i already have the paint gun and all the accesories but where can i find just the liquid car paint “black” in chicago or near chicago?

A: Try NAPA.

Q: My car broke down in my own garage in Chicago, what should I do?
It won’t start. I think some fluid in the engine got frozen. I don’t have AAA or anything like that… What’s the cheapest way to get my car to a mechanic or get a mechanic to my car? I’m in Chicago, downtown / north side. Thanks!

A: Call AAA and get a cheap membership and then they will come get your car and tow it to a mechanic for you.
I bet the membership is cheaper than a tow.

Q: Are there any amateur car racetracks near chicago?
I just want to go out and drive fast on a track lol. I don’t care if I’m racing someone else or for money or anything. Does anyone know if there’s anything like that in the Chicago area?

A: There’s the Autobahn Country Club out in Joliet, but that’s the only one I know about. Expect to spend a couple hundred for a day of lapping.

Q: cheapest way to get from phoenix to chicago? car, plane, train, bus?
cheapest way to get from phoenix to chicago? car, plane, train, bus? i need also if yall dont mind the websites too.

A: southwest will be the cheapest
www.southwest.com

Q: How safe is the public transportation in Chicago at night? Moving there for a job and won’t have a car?
I’m going to be moving to Chicago for a job and will not have a car with me. My job is going to require me to work late at night at times, and I’m just wondering how safe the public transportation is at night. I’m a single female so it makes me a little nervous, but I will be downtown… Suggestions?

A: if your downtown you should be all right
i bet their will be others at work you could travel with and after a while if ride the same train/bus form a group with others and travel in groups

Q: Where in Chicago downtown area ( Near Presidential Towers ) I can find a place to park my car?
I am moving to these towers for few months only. I am bring my car with me. Where in Chicago I can park my car? I want to know really cheap parking or which is free.
Thanks for help

A: You’re moving into THE BIG CITY. Expect big prices. You are going to find that parking is expensive throughout Chicago. It’s very expensive in the downtown area where you are moving in. There is a garage in your building for the most convenience. There are also parking lots nearby. One is at 525 W Monroe and another is at 603 Monroe. The following website has a map of parking lots in Chicago. Your building is listed:

http://www.chicagoparkingmap.com/map_dynamic.jsp

A common solution for your upcoming problem is to sell or store the car. Hundreds of thousands of Chicagoans are carless with no fees, licenses, insurance and maintenance bills to pay. They travel around using the RTA and cabs.

Q: Do cabs in Chicago require 6 month old infants be in a car seat?
We will be taking the train up to Chicago in June. My grandson who is 6 months old will be a lap passenger on the train. Do we need to bring his car seat for when we take a cab?

A: Why would you risk the safety of your 6-month old? Definitely bring your own car seat.

Another option would be a sedan limo from a local company where you can add up a car seat rental for $5, for example: http://www.stretchlimochicago.com/illinois-specials/Chicago.htm

Q: What’s the best route from Miami to Chicago by car?
Fastest route would be nice too, if anybody can recommend a few nice hotels along the way that would be great or a site that recommends hotels for drivers

A: The almost 1,400 mile trip travels through a variety of terrains…tropical swamp, rolling hills foothills, mountains, wooded areas and plains. I would not drive it in one session by myself. It can be done with 2 or 3 drivers.

Below is a good route:

http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m&lat=33.80736&lon=-83.88716&zoom=5&q1=miami%2C%20fl&q2=chicago%2C%20il

I would want to drive past Atlanta on the first day. You will probably experience heavy traffic there and it better get that out of the way before heading into mountains. A stayover in Marietta, GA is about midway:

http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m&lat=29.84542&lon=-82.337295&zoom=6&q1=miami%2C%20fl&q2=marietta%2C%20ga

Below are some places to stay that ar close to I-75:

http://maps.google.com/maps?rlz=1T4GFRD_enUS218US218&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=marietta+ga+hotels&fb=1&gl=us&hq=hotels&hnear=Marietta,+GA&view=text&ei=ZpR1TLn3M9L54gbDyaDWBg&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=more-results&resnum=1&ved=0CD0QtQMwAA

Q: I need to send a car from Chicago to a town in eastern Russia. Which company can do that for me? Or how can I?
I was thinking of towing the car to alaska and than sending it o na ship to a port in eastern Russia. What company will do that for me? And how much could this cost? Whats the best way to go about doing this.

A: u should use fed x

Q: Taxi Cabs or Rental Car in Chicago for 4 days?
Help I will be in Chicago staying at the Wyndham O’Hare however seminar will be in downtown Chicago I know that it is far but I can’t change the hotel package. Should I rent a vehicle for 176.00 4 days or take taxi-cabs everywhere. It would be at least 2 a day return trips maybe more?

A: Get a 5-day visitor pass sold at Currency Exchanges for $18. It has unlimited rides on Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) for any time in the 5-day period that you activate it (insert the card in the machine on the bus/train). Happy traveling!

Q: Can I drive my car from Denver to Chicago without stopping?
Hi

I am planning to drive from Denver to chicago in a day or so without turning off engine, except for gas and food
Should I need to cool down engine after driving 5 hours or 6 hours
Bcz I am driving old 94 Accord.
How long can I drive without a stop? If I drive continously will it harm my engine

Thanks for the answers

A: If it was boiling outside, I’d be a little concerned, but just make sure all your fluids are topped up, especially the rad and tranny fluid.
As long as the temperature gauge is working and doesn’t go up past 2/3rd’s, then you should be just fine.

Hey, me and my buddy once drove a ‘74 Mercury Montego that had no temp. gauge, 1 bolt holding the starter on, no overheating reservoir, and a ton of other fun things, from Vancouver to Northern Ontario in 51hours changing drivers every 6 hours while the other guy slept in the back. I guess it had gotten so hot that the muffler cooked a hole through what was left of the floor and toasted the backseat. LOL
We stopped only for whizz breaks and grub and even then ate on the road.

Q: What company offers the best deal for renting a car in Chicago? Can I find any on-line coupons?
I am looking for July 17-23rd.

A: The best place to look for this type of discounts is SearchAllDeals. Just start with a search term like “car rental”.

Q: Where do I get car parts chromed in Chicago?
I need to find a place to get the rear window moldings chromed. I live in the chicago area and want to get this done ASAP. Any help would be great.

A: The Finishing Touch, Inc.
Chicago, IL 60630
USA

(800) 403-4545

Email us at:

mail@thefinishingtouchinc.com

Q: I will need to park a car in Chicago, any tips?
I will be at Inn of Chicago. 162 E Ohio. Is the lot on St Clair my best bet? I don’t mind walking a block or two or three. It will be mid March so I don’t anticipate terrible weather.

A: To be blunt, anticipate paying $30-$40 a night to park your car near your hotel. There isn’t any 24 hour street parking available in downtown Chicago. You can probably valet your car at the hotel for $40 with “in & out” service (which is good if you plan on using your car and paying to park it again at a museum or restaurant) or if you park it in a lot, expect $30 a night to leave your car there for the duration of your stay.

You could find cheaper parking about a mile away in Greektown, maybe $15 max per night, but certainly not within a block or two or three…more like ten.

Also the meter laws in Chicago…you can feed them only for a max of eight hours, then you have to move your car or it’s going to get towed to Lower Wacker & it will cost you $200 to get your car out.

So budget for $40 a night and you won’t get hit with sticker shock. Parking is expensive in downtown Chicago.

******The person below me has no idea what they’re talking about. Your hotel is in River North for Pete’s sake! That along with the Loop is the safest area in Chicago! I wouldn’t have a problem with my wife walking around alone in that neighborhood any time of day or night.

Are you looking for illinois Car Dealership? Check out the top Chicago resource today!

Q: Is there some kind of lemon law that should apply?
I bought a car in Illinois with 56k miles on it. The dealership did not disclose that the car would require a timing belt change at 60k miles. Is there some law that they should have fixed or mentioned the repair need before they sold the car?

A: It isn’t up the the dealer to keep you informed of what maintenance your vehicle requires. I understand that needing this repair so quickly after purchasing the car is a bitter pill to swallow, but it’s simply why used vehicles cost considerably less than new vehicles.

Q: If I’m buying a car out of state is there anything special I should know?
Ok I found a car that’s litterally right on the “border” of Missouri in Illinois. I was wondering is there anything special I should consider before purchasing this vehichle?

I’m not buying it from a dealership, I found it on craigslist, is that a big deal? The drive isn’t to far so i can look at the vehicle before I buy it of course!

Thanks to all!!

I’m just looking for some help thanks!

A: Make sure to check it over well before you hand over any cash. Arrange to have it looked at by a qualified shop (not one recommended by the seller). Make sure all the papers are in order. Run a vehicle report to check for title or odometer issues. Drive it and make sure it isn’t just around the block. Get it warmed up and up to speeds that you will be driving it at daily on freeways. Make sure everything works properly. Despite what another implies, there is no recourse once you buy it. The vehicle will be as-is with no warranty so if you do have a problem after you buy it, it is your responsibility to fix it.

Q: Labor Ethics Complaint?
How can I file a complaint against my job. I work in Illinois at a car dealership as a secretary. We work 6 hour shifts from 3 to 9 without a break ( we are told not to leave our office even). Then we work saturdays from 8 am to 6 pm once again with no break at all and are told to stay in our office. I want to know how to get them in trouble!

A: there is such a thing called the labor board in your state. Oh you live in ill. Forget it you live in a corrupt state run by corrupt politicians.
Sorry

Q: How do I get a new key?
I lost my only set of car keys. The dealership is in Tennessee and I now live in Illinois. I don’t have a lot of money what are my options? 98′ Lumina 3.1L – the original key had a chip on it and I’m hearing something about a resister code.

A: Just go to your local Chevy dealer they can make u a key by giving them your VIN number….At least thats what the ford dealer did when I lost my only key..And they didnt even charge me!

Q: i want to cancel auto contract due to experience with dealership and i believe that we have no valid contract.?
Okay i bought a car roughly jan/feb 2010 and i have been trying to cancel a service contract for months. I finally won to get the service contract refunded by redoing the auto contract but now i want out of the contract all together. I see it this way, if they are redoing the contract , they need my signature right? So i feel that they were dishonest and choose to not deal with them anymore. I have lost sleep , time and money over all this. So i do not want to resign the contract therefore i would need to return the car. Now how should i go about this before dropping the car off. Do i call the police , attorney or both? I have an employee from the il. director of insurance office on my side , she can prove that the auto service contract needs to be redone. This issue is with a dealership in Illinois. All info is appreciated!
neels : i have read the contract , the dealership told me that the service contract could not be cancelled and once the il director of ins staff member contacted them and threatened with fines they magically said oh yes it can be cancelled. Thanks for your input.
Let me add: the service contract is part of my loan /auto contract , if it is altered it needs to be redone . I will refuse to sign it therefore no contract.

A: I’m not sure which is the bigger fool… The people giving legal advice on this forum, or the person who accepts it as true.

You need to talk with an attorney, and preferably one who specializes in contract law.

Q: Bought a lemon (Illinois), do I have any rights now that it is repaired?
I bought a car from JD byrider in Feb of 07 ( 2002Chrysler 300m). After having the car in my posession about a month, I learned I had a 2,000 dollar problem. I took the car to the dealership (someone other than who they referred me too) and had the car checked and fixed. Last month the car needed a head gasket replaced at the cost of 6,000 dollars and I was out of my car for 3 weeks (walking, while still making a payment of 464 monthly. A warrenty they sold me covered all of the repairs except the 500 I paid (things that weren’t covered. I have my car back and everything is fine. The repairs were not deemed my fault but as problems that already exsisted. My question is… didn’ they sell me a lemon? What are my rights under the law in Illinois, and if any whom do I contact regarding being sold a bad car. The warranty company is whom repaired the car (jd had nothing to do w/ repairs). I just feel ripped off, and it would be nice to be compensated for my loss of a car.

A: I live in IL and did some research on this because I was looking to buy a used car. The lemon law only applies to NEW vehicles. Your best bet is to contact the BBB, let them know about the company. For more info, google lemon laws in IL.
Sorry about your luck!

Q: Anyone know of the exemptions 4 window tint?
I read an article about window tint on driver’s side window and it said something about models made 1998 or older were exempt but by Jan 1, 2008, the exemptions expires and all tint must be removed. I own a 1997 dodge ram for 5 yrs & just NOW got pulled over 4 having tinted driver side window. I cannot find the article I had read about the tint exemptions. I also purchased this truck from an authorized car dealership, so if this is so illegal, do they have the right to sell this to me? Need some advice… oh, I am in Illinois. TIA……..

A: It makes a difference where you live, but the website below had a listing for various states including Illinois. If the information is correct, you may need to make a change right away. If the dates are correct that this began in 1998 then the dealer may be liable. I would at the least go back and ask them what kind of deal they could make on removing it and take the rules with you to try and leverage no cost to you.

Q: Can I return a BMW if I only had it so far for 20 hours?
My husband and I purchased a used BMW X3 last night in Illinois. The ride is terrible. It’s so bumpy I’m getting car sick. I simply cant drive it. When I test drove it, the salesman told me the road by his dealership was bumpy, not the car. I just want a different vechicle. Even if I have to pay more for the next car, that’s OK if I don’t get sick driving the damn thing. Can I return a car in Illinois? Thanks

A: there is no 72 hour rule that is fore door to door sales only. if you buy a car from that dealer they might work something out so you don’t loose your shirt but you will likely take a financial hit b/c they might not give you what you paid for the X3 toward the new car. defiantly call your salesman they may even have a return policy the dealership i work for allows exchanges of used cars toward anouther car at our dealership. we even offer full refunds if you have the car only one day but there is no legal precedence its completely up to the dealer.

Q: I have tried to sell my car in 3 states. Any ideas on how to sell privately?
I’ll try to make this a short story. I have an Olds Alero that I financed 4 years ago (it is a 2004, but I bought it slightly used). I got a bit cornered because I didn’t have hardly any credit at the time and had just had my old car totaled so needed one immediately. This was the only car at the dealership that was in a decent price range that they would finance me for.
Anyway, I moved from GA to OR two years ago and I had been trying to sell it there (craigslist, sign in the window, school boards, etc.) with no luck.
So I drove it to Illinois on my way (where I’m from) and tried to consign it on a friend’s lot for 8 months. No takers.
My dad drove it out to me here in Oregon (hell I was still making payments, might as well have a car). I’ve tried putting it on c-list again and not even had one response.

I’m ahead in my payments, but so far along that refinancing does me no good. I only owe about $4500 on it and it’s worth about $6K according to blue book.

How do I get rid of this damn thing? I don’t really need a car, and don’t want to make these payments anymore!
Damn, there is no carmax in either Oregon or Washington!

A: Key issues, you are paying for insurance on this, the value of any car is drops each month, and Olds are no longer being made. Now you hope it does not need a repair, more costs down the drain.
Forget the ticky-tack advertising, ie window sign and bulletin boards.
Get the car detailed, $100-200 dollars.
Put an ad in the largest paper for seven days. Price the car low to start.
Take good photos and put them on photo bucket, you can send callers to your location.
If that does not work, put it on AutoTrader. Buy the run til it sells package. Post the ad then every week lower the price $100.
a>

Q: whats your worst car buying experiance?
I went threw one that went so wrong, “bait and switch” That the salesman I was working with actually assalted the dealership owner, and quit his job. (a mitzubishi dealer in Sycamore illinois that is no-longer in bussiness.) Plus, I had to file grand theft charges with the Police that they stole my trade-in, by dealer trading it before the deal was finial.
I have the title to that trade-in vehical still.

A: When I was in college, my roommate got drunk, stole my beloved 79 Ford LTD and crashed it into two parked semis and a brick wall, rendering it useless. Of course he didn’t have insurance… hell, he didn’t even have a license, seeing as getting drunk and stealing cars was a bit of a hobby for him.

I had about $600 to find a replacement. Of course there’s not much in that price range… I found a piece of crap Audi that my brother tried to talk me out of. I really should have known better when the owner made me sign a release stating I was accepting the car as is, but I was running out of time and hadn’t found anything else. (And I’d only paid about $575 for the LTD, so I thought maybe I’d get lucky again.) I bought the piece of junk and it proceeded to break down on me about a week later (on Christmas Day, no less) and after sinking money into the towing, it turned out it would cost a couple thousand just to get it running. Thankfully the roommates mom took pity on me and bought me another used car to make up for her son’s nonsense, and that one lasted a few years.

Q: Legal Liabilities of an Auto Dealership?
I bought a used 2005 Toyota Scion XB, 4-door from a GM-Chain dealership around 8/06.

Recently, I got pulled over by a county officer because of the tinted driver-side, and front passenger-side windows, which are considerably lighter than the privacy glass of the remaining windows of the car. I found out that having tinted windows on the front doors and windshield is illegal in the state of Illinois. My windshield was replaced, so I know it doesn’t have tint, but the windows still do.

The car was originally sold from a Toyota Dealship in Seattle, WA, and was re-sold here in Illinois.

I bought the vehicle, which still had its manufacturer’s warranty, as is, and have made no changes to the exterior, or windows.

My question: Is the dealership that I bought my car from, legally liable to sell me something that is legal to drive in the state its being sold in?

A: No.

Q: Car Can’t Pass Emissions Test, Please Help?
96 Geo Tracker failed test cause of EGR flow.Had EGR Bypass and EGR control valve replaced. After driving car for a week engine light came on.Tested again and failed again cause of EGR flow.Had o2 sensor replaced. Drove for a few days, engine light came on again. Tested again and failed, again for EGR flow and now system too lean.Dealership can’t find the problem, but recommended I have fuel injector service, engine decarbonization, and new hoses they didn’t specify which ones.I’ve spent over a grand trying to fix and I don’t want to give the dealer any more money because they haven’t been able to fix it.Trying to qualify for a waiver from the Illinois emissions but they won’t give it to me unless the engine light is off,it doesn’t matter if the car fails. What should I do?Can I perform the engine decarbonization and injector service myself, and if so how?and will that even make a difference? Is there a way to turn off the engine light without disconnectin battery to get qualify 4 waiver?

A: If I were u,i will remove the bulb which is giving you the run around.
Go for the test without the bulb,so light not there to fail you.
once passed,u can fix it back.
Now this electronic systems can show light for various reasons. From Loose tank caps to Co2 sensors.
Even auto transmission sensors show check engine lights.
The diagonise will show exact.
Only possibilty check auto transmission sensor. This could be the culprit.
try the bulb trick and get your vehicle moving.

Q: What can I do to get my name off an auto loan and put it in my cosigners only?
My boyfriend cosigned the loan on my car. We broke up and he took the car and moved across the country with it. I’m fine with that as long as he puts the loan into his name only and my name comes off everything so I’m not liable. There is $1645 left on it. Can we just get the dealership to take my name off and put everything in his name? How would he go about ‘refinancing’ it so I can get my name off?

Also, am I vulnerable from a legal standpoint? Can I get sued for any accident the car is involved in? I don’t know if he’s paid the insurance but he told me that in Illinois only the driver is at fault.

Anyone know?

A: The ONLY way to get your name off the title and off the loan is if he refinances the car IN HIS OWN NAME. There are no ifs ands or butts to this situation.

The only way to know if you are legally liable for the car as far as accidents go is if the state the accident was in automatically imputes liabilty to the registered owner. If it does automatically carries over to the registered owner then you are on the hook. If it doesn’t, it falls solely with the driver. In most states however, it does ultimately fall on the owner of the car and no one else. It would be up to YOU to sue the driver for damages.

Q: I put a down payment on a car, can I get it back?
I’m only 20 and yes kind of stupid because I put a down payment on a car of $1000. The dealer told me to so they could hold it for me. Anyways I found the dealership to be a bunch of a-holes and I found a better deal on the car. Will I be able to get my money back? It was paid on a card and the receipt does not say refundable or non refundable. But since it does not say non refundable that is a good thing right? I live in Illinois if that makes a difference?

A: Did you sign anything when you put the money down? If you did, read the fine print. After reading the fine print, call the dealership and ask them to cancel the transaction. If they won’t It may be possible to contact your credit card company and dispute the $1,000. and have them refund the money. But….Do this ASAP

Q: i think i bought a lemon PLEASE HELP?
i bought a car from a dealership as-is. the next day i brought it to a mechanic and he said he found a fuel leak. he then informed me that it is against the law in illinois for a dealership to sell a car with either a known fuel leak or with brake problems. i tried calling a bunch of probono attorneys and lawyers but they have yet to call back and my window of opprotunity to stop the check is rapidly approching. HELP ME PLEASE
thats for the obvious comments everyone.

i meant IS IT AGAINST THE LAW?
ok… people, i didnt think i have to actually spell it out for you, but you are all stupid.

here is the question in as plain english as i can get it… ready? grab a pen, and some paper to jot it down so you can read it back to yourself.

d-o y-o-u k-n-o-w i-f i-t i-s a-g-a-i-n-s-t t-h-e l-a-w t-o s-e-l-l a c-a-r t-h-a-t h-a-s a f-u-e-l p-r-o-b-l-e-m

jesus, thanks for picking on me and not helping me at all

A: you just said the problem “known”. They may not have known about the fuel leak. If it didn’t fail the state inspection, they didn’t do anything wrong.’

why did you bring it to a mechanic the next day? that gets done before you pick it up.

regardless, it’s as-is, you;ll have to fix it.

Are you looking for Il Car Dealer? Check out the top Chicago resource today!

Q: I have a Dodge Durango and want to know if anyone knows what i can do to the dealer?
My husband and i bought a dodge durango from a used car dealer in springfield il. it was as is but as a christian dealer we trusted him when he said if anything goes wrong we will take care of it my husband being a pastor had no problem trusting him. 2 weeks after we bought it the transmission was acting funny so we took it up to him and they said it was fixed. well here it is 1 and a half months later and its really messing up now. so we called them and they said we dont half to fix it take it to someone else. i am in the military and will be leaving soon for Iraq i dont want to leave my husband with a car that we are paying for and he cant even drive it. does anyone have any idea’s waht i can do about this place? or what could be wrong with the truck. it has now power wont go over 40 wont shift right and the check engine light keeps coming on.

A: in God we trust everyone else pays cash trust no one but god and get it in writing

Q: What can I do about the car dealers quote and price?
I bought a car this weekend and when I went over the paperwork again I realized that they charged me 33,400 instead of the 32,850 that the sales person had quoted me in an email. I realize that thats not much but they had me also put 500 down that I cant see going towards the car but I got 0% financing. Also in all the emailing me and the sales person did back and fourth he never mentined that the car also had 3000 miles on it and since i drove all the way down to IL from WI to get the car because it was one of 2 in the country in this color so I went to the closer deal. Now I signed all the paper work but is there anything I can do with the quote being lower then the price I ended up paying for the car can I get like a check back from the dealer for that difference or with the car having 3000 miles?
Thanks Much

A: You signed the paperwork agreeing to a price. Any previous price quote means nothing. You also signed an odometer disclosure statement that said what miles were on the car.

The email got you in the door, but the contract that you signed is the only thing that matters.

Sorry

Q: Wondering if a dealer is doing something screwy?
Hi, had a little weird situation. Dealer/car make will be omitted, I’m in IL though. Have a car, from 2005, lease expired in about 4 months. Went to the dealer, got a deal for a 2007, same model, same payment, lease, but more miles allowed a year. Seemed like a great deal (new car and more miles allowed per month, same price, but they said I wouldn’t have to worry about the extra lease payments, that it’s all taken care of in the new payment).

Now I’m looking at the papers at home. My official return receipt form shows the 05 car going back, but there are multiple forms, like a ST556 sales tax return form (which I’m not experienced with), which shows that I traded in that model, but an 03 car, with a different color/VIN, with a lot more miles, and the value of the ‘trade’ seems to be of an 03 amount. I didn’t really look into the numbers since the payment was great, but now I’m a little confused.

Not sure if it was an honest mistake or they’re trying something screwy?

A: Check your ‘new car” if it is what you expect, then the dealer has prob made an error in your favour, as He may have thought he was selling and older car. O’wise, my friend, it’s what the papers say it is, especially if the chassis and engine numbers agree with the papers, & you’ve been had. Mind you, you shouldn’t be without redress of your verbal discussion, though it might be hard to prove. After all, you signed the papers, and if you signed something without reading & understanding it, more fool you.

Q: how can i get the title, plates, and registraton for a car i recently bought if the dealer is out of business?
i purchased the car @ west suburban auto world also known as west suburban auto group and auto world located at 415 W. Roosevelt Rd. Maywood IL 60153. when i went to pick up my title, plates, and registraton today, they were no longer in business. they shut down with no fowarding info what so ever and i still have a note to pay. how would i go about getting the title, plates, and registraton for my car?

A: Police report, you insurance company, court, lawyer

Q: Legally where do I stand with the trader I bought my car from?
Hi

I bought my car 2 days ago from a dealer, only problem is there are problems with the car and he is over 9 hours from where I live and will not answer me.

When we bought the car we were told it passed its mot no problems. Only issue is my misses went to pick the car up, and he didnt tell us the mot on the car failed the first time, he also removed the advisory list from the garage and did not inform us the tyres were almost illegal on the back ( i think they already were ) and that the brake pads were wore thin.

Is there some law or something or mis representation where he has removed the failed mot, and removed the list of advisorys? there is no way my partner would have drove home 450 miles knowing that! and most of the way due to the weather she was aquaplaining.

On top of that which was rather sneaky, when she got there he went and opened the car, and said il turn the engine on and warm it up for you, seems like a nice thing to do…. But when my misses gets home she realises she cant lock the car through the remote on the key cause its broke!

So the next day we had to fork out £365 for a new key & to be programed to the car, 2 rear tyres, rear brake pads…

But thats not it, now the engine is making horrible noises, and we found out the alternantor needs replacing which will cost £455 supplied and fitted…

Is there anything we can do?

Thanks
Why would this be a joke?
Hi,

Yes I should add I live in the UK, and I should also add you should beable to trust motor traders.
Asking why I didnt spot the fault isnt really the issue, the dealer has a job to do to infact the insure the cars are in good condition etc

A: It passed the MOT, ok it had advisories but it did pass. There was no misrepresentation just because he removed the failed MOT and advisories.
The tyres were easily available for you to check. They were obviously legal when it was MOTed
Brake pads – always wear out in time. If you were concerned you should have checked them before buying. just because they were worn it does not mean it could not get an MOT or it was unsafe.

From what you say you have not given the dealer an opportunity to fix the car and have just gone ahead and done it – you have now given up any rights you had to get him to sort it.

As far as the alternator goes the car was clearly OK when it left the dealers and for the 450 miles home so what could the dealer reasonably have been expected to do – replace any parts that just might fail in case they do so soon after you got it?

Clearly the dealer has been sneaky. You on the other hand have made several mistakes -
a) bought from somewhere not easily accessible to you
b) failed to check the cars tyres before driving 450 miles in a strange car!
c) gone ahead and fixed stuff without giving them a chance to fix it or give you money back.

Just one to chalk up to experience I reckon.

Q: April 24 bought a van at TYSON 1 s w Frontage Rd SHOREWOOD Il Saturday April 29 van died What to d?
On Monday April 24,2007 at 6: 30 pm I bought a used van at TYSON MOTOR CORP 1S W Frontage Rd, SHOREWOOD, IL.
On Saturday April 29, 2007 at 11:50 am this van died ( the engine broken).
I tolled this van to the TYSON in Shorewood, IL.
I pleased Alan the person that sold this van to me, to help me on some ways, to fix the van , trade or give my money back. Alan told me that as soon as the van is out of dealer, he does not care. His words were: I sell cars. As soon as they are out of dealer I do not care.
I wanted to talk with sales manager but he was even more brutal . He even called the police to remove my car from their property.
When Alan sold this van to me, he said that they are honest, loyal to the costumers.
The way they treated me was terrible. They showed no integrity, honesty or loyalty to me.
I drove this van only 50 miles. What I should do? Where I can get some help?

A: start by placing a call to your local dmv do this quickly next better bussiness burea again quickly some states have a 3 day limit. if financed call the lender tell them what happened if not finaced file a small claims court suit no lawyer needed if under either 3500 or 5000 depending on local law next place the add on the street with windshield marker near the dealership telling the story

Q: I am purchasing a car from illinois and will be transferring it to kentucky. How do i do this?
I know i need proof of insurance.Do i have to go to the illinois dmv first? The person I’m buying the car from will have to sign his/her title, but what else do we do?

A: GO TO DMV
SIGN TITLE
TRANSFER TAG OR GET A NEW ONE
BE SURE YOU ARE INSURED

Q: Can you sell your car in Illinois even if it has failed the emissions test?
My husbands car failed the emissions test back in April and its just been sitting taking up my parking spot. I wasn’t sure if we could sell it as is or can you only sell cars that have passed the emissions test?

A: yes you can sell it,and make sure you sign and return emissions document stateing you have sold the car if not illinois will suspend you drivers licenses and plates

Q: Do I have to register my car in illinois?
I just moved to Illinois and I have a car that does not run. It is always just parked in the garage. Do I have to register it or even let illinois know that I have it? It is currently registered to GA, but only for a little over a week.

A: So long as you never drive it, NO.
If you do ever need to drive it, even if briefly, I would see about getting a temporary registration.

Q: Is it legal for a Illinois car body shop to charge you for repairs done before giving an estimate?
Took car in for an estimate, now the shop is trying to charge me for work that was never agreed on

A: As long as you didn’t sign a repair order you do not have to pay for repairs! They may have you pay for the estimate. Best thing to do is call the Better Business Bureau.

Q: Where can I find cheap cars, and maybe a place that will take trade-ins in Kankakee, Illinois?
I have a 91 ford taurus with 138,000 miles. Damage to the rear bumper.. and my key just broke in the ignition today.. But it runs! With great heat and AC.. any ideas?

A: I would go on Craigslist and check out the local listings. Also, check the bartering section and also place the car for sale.

Q: What is the cost of an Illinois car emission inspection test?

A: ILLINOIS
No Safety Inspection

Emissions:

Vehicles 1967 and older require no testing. Newer vehicles (but more than 4 years old) must be tested (at no charge) in the following counties: Cook, Dupage, Lake, Kane, Kendall, McHenrie, Madison, Monroe, St. Clair, Will.

Q: I live in Illinois and my car’s finance company is in Michigan, will my reposses car go to Michigan or stay?
I’m behind on my car payments and the finance company is trying to reposses my car, if they take it before I pay it off, will my car stay in Illinois where I live or go to Michigan where the finance company is? Will I have to pay the balance to get the car back? How long (in the state of Illinois) will they allow me to come up with the money? Please serious inquires only!

A: I think you meant ’serious answers’, but anyways….

Only your finance company knows where the car is going to end up. Even though they are in Michigan, they probably have a partnership with an Illinois based tow company and/or storage facility.

How long you have to come up with the money depends on the terms of your agreement, so I suggest you read the paperwork you signed when you bought the car.

In order to get the car back, you will need to pay the balance of what you owe, plus any towing and storage fees if the finance company agrees to give you the car back.
Note – Since you breached the contract by not paying, they do not have to sell you the car back. If they do not, you will have to buy it back at auction if you want the same car…..and you probably won’t be able to finance that since you would have a repo on your credit history.

Good luck.

Q: Is it illegal to have a PA speaker in your car in Illinois?
Is it illegal to have a PA speaker in your car in Illinois?

A: Call this number and ask, this way you will get the correct information…..

(217) 782-6637

Q: Shipping your car from Illinois to Arizona?
I am moving from Illinois to Arizona and I don’t want to have to drive my car that far. How much does it cost to ship your car from Illinois to Arizona?

A: It costs a lot and is a pain.

Some companies just pay someone else to drive it for you (which doesn’t save any wear and tear and you end up paying for all the gasoline, anyway) and some companies truly ship the car, and it costs even more.

Get a friend to drive with you and make a fun road trip out of it, then pay for a plane ticket for them to return home.

Q: is there a right of recission on cars in illinois?

A: There is NO right to return a car because you changed your mind.

There is NO right to return a car because you changed your mind.

There is NO right to return a car because you changed your mind.

I can not say this enough!!!

The 72 hours rule that everyone keeps talking about applies to in home sales. It does not apply when you go to a “normal place of business”. It was designed to prevent people from being pressured into signing contracts just to get the salesman to leave their home. When you go to a place of business, you always have the option of walking out. You can not walk out of a sales situation in your own home.

When you take delivery of a vehicle, and drive it off the dealers lot, you own it!! The dealer is not required to take it back, and most likely will not. If he does, you will have to buy another vehicle from him, because he is not going to refund your money.

Q: are there video cameras in police cars in naperville, illinois?

A: Probably. I’m in Chicago. South Side. Naperville is an uppity town. I would just assume that there are cameras in the squads.

Q: how much does it cost to transfer a car title in illinois?
I’m getting a car as a gift from arkansas. I live in illinois. Are there extra charges to transfer the title? Also, how much would plates cost?

Motorcycle $39
Person’s with Disabilities $99

Q: Moving to Illinois in 5 weeks. Have 2 cars to register. Can we do it from Ca. before we leave?
Have to vehicles that need to be registered. 1 is coming up for renewal at the end of Feb. Would like to register that vehicle in the state of illinois before we leave in 5 weeks so as not to pay the California reg fee. It would be a waste of money. Help

A: Yes, but it would cost more than the registration on the car in CA. You would have to drive to IL, establish residency there, and only then could you register it in IL.

Before you leave, no.

Q: How many people can you have in the car with an Illinois permit?
At the age of fifteen how many others are allowed in the car with me if i only have my drivers learning permit in the state of Illinois?

A: Number of passengers limited to one in the front seat and the number of safety belts in the back seat…………….

http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/programs/gdl.html

Q: How long can I drive a Illinois registered and insured car in Toronto,Canada?
I’m a USA resident.I own a car that is registered and insured in Illinois. If i drive it to Toronto and l decide to fly back can I leave my car there with a friend [who is going to drive it in Canada}?For how long ?Would it be a problem for me or him{the friend}. Shoud I be paying any fees or taxes.

A: It’ll be a problem as soon as either:
A: The police notice your tags are out of date, or;
B: Your friend gets pulled over and has to produce paperwork, or;
C: There’s an accident and you & the driver both get fined heavily for not having insurance.

We don’t pay taxes on cars up here (do you pay taxes on your car down there?), but the registration/insurance problem isn’t a gamble you ought to take.

Q: Please Help! Having Problems with Ex-Girlfriend!!!?
Hi guys I know this is pretty long but please help me out if you can find it in your heart to aid a really down college student.

I will choose a best answer and dish out points whenever possible

Alright so basically, my ex-girlfriend and I broke up like 3 months ago because she said that she needed time to “grow up”. Basically, we decided to still be friends because we really still like each other and get along great. However, I am still very much in love with her.

The problem is that lately I’ve been feeling really down around my ex and kind of jealous and I don’t know why. She’s basically perfect at everything. She’s very attractive because a lot of guys flirt with her, wears size 00 pants, exercises constantly, her parents are wealthier than mine as she lives in a half a million dollar house and her dad retired at the age of 48, she always gets whatever she wants (material-wise) i.e. she has two pairs of Uggs, wears all Abercrombie clothing, gets the newest iPod every year, breaks her cell phone at least 3 times a year, has two pairs of Sperry type shoes, and gets Tiffany and Co. jewelry costing around $175 once a year (She gets all this stuff usually for Christmas or just because presents but she always gets whats on her list of wants), she makes friends easily, has time to join lots of clubs in college, works as a store model for Abercrombie and has a higher GPA than me while majoring in journalism, and sometimes I feel like she has all of God’s blessing even though she is extremely atheist.

However, I am the complete opposite as I always work for what I get. I’m in one of the top 10 business schools in the nation but struggle to maintain a 3.0 GPA and spend most of my time studying, I haven’t met very many people in college because I’m trying to save money by living at home with my parents (my ex lives in the dorms which her parents pay for even though her parents live 2 blocks away from campus), I spend all my free time at home, I don’t find myself as attractive because I’ve only worked for American Eagle and I am Asian, my parents want me to earn things so I have to work to pay for my clothes, cell phone, car repairs and other stuff I want unlike my ex.

I just feel crappy to the point that I’ve been unmotivated to study and I want to sleep all day. I’ve stopped going to the gym and I have been wallowing in my own self-pity, I’m always wishing that my parents were a lot richer because my ex gets to finish college at her own pace while I’m pressured to finish in 4 while her parents can also afford to let her take summer classes not only at where we go to school but to other colleges such as New York University and/or Chicago to make her workload easier while I don’t have that luxury.

The only thing I feel like I have an advantage over her is that I know how to invest and save my money better than her because she can’t save her own money at all. She doesn’t even know how the basic definition of a stock or how a credit and debit card work. I am very ambitious and always look for ways to make extra money through investing and saving but I always still feel down because I know that she’ll still get ahead of me in the future because her father is already investing money for her for her retirement in the thousands already.

Despite all this I feel like God’s let me down. Why does he bless people that don’t believe in him? Should I stay away from my ex even though I still love her? She is white and we’ve known each other for 4 years and dated each other for 2 and a half years. Can a relationship with 2 different people like this work out again? Why do I feel this way? I get really jealous because no girls flirt with me at college compared to guys hitting on her. What should I do? Am I even in her league at all?

A: Well bro first of all people that don’t have to work for anything they get usually fail when they are faced with that. Second if you guys dated a lot in between then there’s defiantly a chance. Just be upfront with her on the subject and hope for the best. Good luck bro

Q: Feeling Really Strange around Ex…Please Help Me Everyone! So Depressed!?
Hi guys I know this is pretty long but please help me out if you can find it in your heart to aid a really down college student.

She also got a chance to study abroad twice.

The only thing I feel like I have an advantage over her is that I know how to invest and save my money better than her because she can’t save her own money at all. Her sister basically gets everything my ex does like a new iPod at the same time my ex does and wears Abercrombie only also. Is it possible to get a life like this when her dad worked as an engineer for GM for 20 years and is now retired and her mom is a territorial manager for Johnson and Johnson?

A: WHAT THE FRENCH TOAST!!!!! God does not let people down, what your mouth

He blesses all kinds of people and that is not for you to judge

Yes you should stay far away from her because you are not stable minded

WHO cares what color she is.. COLOR does not matter, you are showing your immature side once again

Yes all kinds of relationships work out

You should stop bothering her and not you are not in her league

Seriously, find happiness elsewhere and stop beating a dead horse

I get really jealous because no girls flirt with me at college compared to guys hitting on her. What should I do? Am I even in her league at all?

A: It seems like your feelings for her have less to do with who she is as a person, and more to do with some ideal lifestyle that you have for yourself. It doesn’t seem like you want to be with her for the right reasons.

But…
I just ended a 10 year marriage after New Years 2009 (check my question history), and I am already in a much better place because I did the stuff I’m going to tell you.
If you want to win her back or to get over her, first you have to stop wallowing around in self-pity. Pick yourself up by your bootstraps, and convince yourself that this is the right thing. If you are still in contact with her, tell her that you’ve decided that this break-up is the best thing, and it’s time you both go your seperate ways. I know it’s counter-intuitive, but this will work — trust me.

Go out and get yourself some nice clothes — new cologne, new deodorant, a new haircut — become the man all girls would want, including her. Walk it, talk it, become it.

Start dating. This will make you feel more confident about yourself, and she will see how well you’re doing for yourself and it will pique her curiosity. You don’t want to get a hold of her and say “hey, I’ve been going on a lot of dates.” That’s not the point. The point is to work on YOU.

After a month of not talking to her, give her a call. If she doesn’t answer, don’t leave a voice mail. Wait a couple of days, then try it again. If after a week, she still doesn’t answer, then put it off for another couple of weeks and try again. If she does answer, then be cordial. Ask her how she’s doing — don’t rehash any old issues, keep the conversation positive. Ask her if she has 30 to 60 minutes to sit down for coffee or something. Nothing too involving. If she declines, then say OK. If she agrees, then set up a time and place. Once there, stick to the 30 minutes, and keep it fun. At some time during that date, make it a point to touch her — like she has something in her hair, or lint on her shirt. That will re-establish an affectionate relationship.
At the end of the date, let her know you had a fun time. If she would like to do it again, then accept. If not, then try calling her in a couple of days, just like before.
On the 2nd date, be a little more involved; go out to dinner, a museum, etc. At the end of the date, ask if she would like to come over for a few minutes to listen to a new CD you got or something. If she declines, say something like, “you’re not afraid of a little music, are you?”
If she accepts, once you’re at home, make a little contact with her again. This will, once again, re-establish an affectionate relationship. The goal really is to have sex. If she has sex with you, she will, once again, be emotionally involved with you, because women associate sex with emotions. The trick works for women too — except their goal would be to establish the emotional commitment first.
Anyway, I hope this all helps. Good luck.

Q: Need Help with Ex!!! Please I am Desperate!?

She also got a chance to study abroad twice.

The only thing I feel like I have an advantage over her is that I know how to invest and save my money better than her because she can’t save her own money at all.

Not only does she get all that stuff but her little sister and her brother get all the stuff they want to. Her sister basically gets everything my ex does like a new iPod at the same time my ex does and wears Abercrombie only also. However, if she doesn’t get her way at all, she always throws a fit (I’ve been there to witness it) until she gets her way. I don’t understand how she gets all this stuff either. Is it possible to get a life like this when her dad worked as an engineer for GM for 20 years and is now retired and her mom is a territorial manager for Johnson and Johnson?

Despite all this I feel like God’s let me down. Why does he bless people that don’t believe in him? Should I stay away from my ex even though I still love her? She is white and we’ve known each other for 4 years and dated each other for 2 and a half years. Can a relationship with 2 different people like this work out again? Why do I feel this way? I get really jealous because no girls flirt with me at college compared to guys hitting on her. What should I do? Am I even in her league at all?

A: With all the turmoil you are in, I would say yes, you should stay away for a while. It’s really hard to remain friends with an ex unless a lor of time has passed.

I wouldn’t necessarily consider her blessed with things from God. She’s spoiled and so are her siblings. It’s going to be very hard on them when they hear “no” in the real world.

A: I’d say that you are out of her league. And that’s basically why she dumped you.

Your only advantage of being good at making money is useless to her. Because she already has all the money she needs from her parents. And it’s her parents who have blessed her so much both genetically and with money. It’s nice to have successful parents who take care of you so much.

I suggest that you find a girl who doesn’t have rich parents and who needs the money. And then your advantage of being good with money will make you attractive to her.

A: You gotta give this girl up. I know what you are going through, I think I must have gone through exactly what you’re going through. If she is able to come back to you, then that’d be great. But the odds are against it, and you’ll find peace quicker by giving her up totally.

I know it probably kills you to see her now, all happy and without you, and all that. I know its torture, actually.

But you are most likely not meant to be with her, and this energy between you two is just drawn-out stress.

I know you are tired, probably never want to get up early or exercise, and all that… but since you are in business school, just force yourself to keep that whole thing going. You’ll be so happy when you are done, and when your happiness returns you’ll attract different, better, longer lasting girls.

In the mean time, just cope and have fun when you can, but avoid this particular girl. She was put on this earth to test you and delay you. Get past it, I’m tellin you!

Don’t worry about being a “C” student, except for the fact that it means you have to work hard. That part sucks… but the grade itself really doesn’t matter to anyone so long as you get your diploma in the end.

You are in a rough phase. Don’t expect ease or happiness right now. Just drudge through it. Like walking through cold snow to get to a destination. You got your mission and you’ll get there.

As far as the hole in your heart goes, that never goes away, with or without a woman. As long as you are on Earth, you will always have a weird feeling of separation from everything, except on the occasions where you are having a great group experience, like a concert or camping trip that is going great at the time.

But right now, I don’t think anything will make you happy. But I don’t think you’re doomed either. You just gotta get past this dark cloud you are walking though in the evolution of your life.

Give up on this woman, and open yourself to receiving new women, whether they appear in 3 months or 2 years, doesn’t matter really. Long as you just keep moving forward, in hard times like now, and easy times later.

A: It isn’t a matter of not being in her league; it’s a matter of not having the same values. You are a believer and she is not and that only scratches the surface, but it allows me to say this to you: One of the commandments is, “Thou shalt not covet.” It isn’t because you might steal something that you covet, but because you become unhappy comparing yourself to another who has more. There will always be someone with more. She’s your ex, it doesn’t sound like she’ll ever grow up, and now it’s time to make the decision to move along. You’ll be miserable until you DO make that decision, and then it’ll feel like a weight’s been lifted from you. You’ll be much happier with someone who appreciates your talents and how hard you work. She doesn’t, and I don’t think she ever could.

she then told me she love me and again i blasted her and asked her what has she accomplished in her life and she couldnt answer..then i asked why with no condoms..she risking my life..now she tell me she 11wk pregnant and its a boy..but i told her it better not be my child and we have to take a dna blood test..i also mentioned to her i am going to chicago once i done this semester with school..I am blessed with a business now and i am content with what i have materially and she has always gave me motivation to work harder but now with she gone in jail and her 3yr old daughter with her mama..i listed to soul music at night and can hardly sleep at a decent hour..i hate she did this to me ..but who can i run to? even if i decide to have sex with other girls i still do not get answer and fulfillment cuz i cant trust people like that..I am a very motivated ….thats her evil, lying ass..what do i do? i dont want her back..but i am lonely even money dont make me happy

A: i think your just as bad as each other if you both have cheated.
and let me just tel you she must be lieing bout the pregnancy cos if she is only 11 weeks pregnant you cant tell if its a boy or girl you find out between 16-18 weeks.

you both need to move on with your lives and start fresh. really you dont wanna be with a woman that has been in jail and already has a 3 yr old daughter that isnt yours

Q: Should I buy this Lincoln LS?
http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/1775922371.html

Okay,so my hyundai tiburon was recently totaled(not my fault btw),so I’m in the market for a new car. I’m only 19 and only have about $3,000 to spend on another car. I fell in love with this one because it has the leather seats and moonroof! & because its a great canvas for me to customize..meaning I can put tints etc without having to fix any other cosmetic problems.

I was wondering if anyone knows if the mileage is too high for this type of car? I hear its a luxury style American made car..but would like to know more.
My tiburon had over 183,000 miles when it got totaled and was running perfect with NO problems whatsoever!

I’d really appreciate all feedback. If its negative, please suggest another make for me to check out!

A: The LS is NOT the Town Car, repeat, the LS is NOT the Town Car! It shares the platform of the Jaguar XJs of the same years (it’s essentially a Jag). My experience is that I’ve gotten 25-27mpg on the highway (LS V8). You’ll be spending a lot more money on gas and insurance for the Explorer. You can also easily get aftermarket parts for the LS if you want to spice it up a bit.

Q: is it mandatory to register my car to a new state or is it fine to just renew it to my former state?
I moved to Maryland from Illinois. I won’t be long in Maryland, probably under 1 year. Do I have to go to all that hassle of going to the MVA to change my registration/title/plates/license or is it fine to just renew it for another year to my former state (Illinois). It expires in 1 month, but I have time to renew it. It will be cheaper than to do the whole new registration/transfer process. Is it fine? I know insurance should be fine as I called before to ask if I need to change my policy to a new state, the insurance company only said as long as its insured, it’s fine. Didn’t say much about mandatory-ness. Insurance is insurance, doesn’t matter which state you live in, though the price can vary by state. Should I keep my Illinois car details and not transfer it to Maryland? Illinois insurance rates is cheaper, plus I don’t plan on staying in Maryland for the long haul.

A: Legally you must register it.
read this:

New to Maryland Titling and Registering Your Vehicle Information
As a new resident of Maryland you must register your vehicle within 60 days of moving to Maryland. If you delay beyond 60 days, you will not be eligible for a tax credit for any titling tax paid in another state, and you may be subject to a citation for an out of state registration.

Please Note: If an owner of a vehicle originally titled in Maryland obtains a title for the vehicle in another state in the same name, and returns to Maryland, it may be registered by surrendering the foreign title and securing a Duplicate Maryland Title. There is a fee for a duplicate title.

Titling Your Vehicle

You can apply for a Maryland title, and registration, in person at any of the MVA’s full service branch offices. You also can mail the documents to the MVA’s Out-of-State Title Unit, 6601 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, MD 21062, or go to an MVA licensed tag and title service where they will assist you in applying.

Q: New Car Taxes, Title, etc… Need Help!!!?
I am purchasing a new car this week, and I need help. The car I am looking has an MSRP of $24,280, but an invoice of about $22100. I am wondering what I should expect to pay above invoice price, PLUS taxes, title, etc. Does anyone know where I can get a good, solid idea of what I should be paying “out-the-door” for this vehicle? A web site, personal experiences, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

By the way…I live in Cook county, Illinois.

A: You have already found the invoice price. This is good.
Forget about MSRP.
Take the invoice price and subtract any manufacture rebates.
Then subtract dealer hold back. This is usually a few hundred dollars. websites like edmunds.com can explain dealer holdback and give you a more exact figure.

Write all this information down and show your calculations and where you got the information. Show this to the dealer. They will immedialtly figure out that you know what you are doing. Offer them $300 profit on top of the figure you have calculated. Be willing to go to $500 if you have to, but not much more. You know what you are doing, so don’t let them scare you with some offer that is way over what you have calculated.

Tax title and licence is what it is and must be added in after the price is negoitated. Tax is the usually just calculated at the sales tax rate for your area. Title and license is usually a few hundred bucks.

edmunds.com has a lot of good information about car buying.

If you have found the exact car you want then search the inventory of other dealers in the area or some other town. This can usually be done on the dealers website. You can usually email them and get a quote for the exact same car. Print out the quote and be prepared to show that you have gotten quotes and they need to beat their competitiors price.

Q: original California car title lost car want to re title car between family members in Illinois how to do it?
Death in fam original car title was lost we want to complete the new transfer request@ the same time asas duplicate title . new owner ( family owner) is in illinois original title is in california HELP!!!!!!!!!!! THANX

A: should be able to go on line to apply for the correct papers to complete for duplicate copy of the original licence, the address in DMV motor registration , its in Sacramento CA.

Q: i am going on a 19 hour car trip to illinois and have nothing to do?
i am a young teen and am going on an 19 hour car trip with my parents and older brother i an looking for car games or anything to do for about 6 or 7 hours i need lots of games! something fun and new plz help! i am open to all answers!

A: I know some games where you could play with your family in the car. You don’t need any boards or anything. They are called “Slug Bug” and there is another one that I don’t know the name of but it is when you guys go through the whole alphabet and whichever letter you guys are on, you and your family have to take turns thinking of things that start with that letter. Whoever cannot think of anything within 5 seconds is out.

Q: What will happen if im in the car with more than 2 people while a new sixteen year old is drving?
In illinois, for the first six months when your sixteen you cant have more than one (non sibling) person in your car. what would happen to me if i was in the car (not driving) with more people than allowed and we get pulled over?

A: I myself dont live in the same area but our rule appears to be the same, anyways on the rare occasion that you will get pulled over just dont even mention it unless its brought up, but if they notice you will most likely get a warning your first time and your second you may lose your license for a year.

Q: Found myself with a lemon car (having had taken it to the dealer a few times and no fix),what should i do now?
I live in Illinois and just wanted to know what the laws are within this state. I am aware that in other states I have the right to given a new car or my money back. Any tips on what are my options in Illinois?? Thanks.

A: What did you get, whats wrong with it, and how long have you had it?

Q: if I have plates on my car but moved to a different state, do I have to get new plates?
I moved to Missouri, I have Illinois plates on a car that I never drive it stays parked in the driveway. I dont want Missouri plates on it because then I will have to pay their taxes on it

A: New Resident Titling & Registration Requirements
You have 30 days from the date of becoming a Missouri resident to title your vehicle

Q: im looking to buy a new car and have a few in mind…….?
so number one is gas mileage, i drive 20 miles everyday there and 20 back and my V8 isnt workin out like id hoped. im looking so far and have found a few, the nissan versa and the toyota yaris. my price range is $12,000-$16,000. im not looking just at midsize but i do want a 4-door sedan. maybe suv but the gas mileage probly wouldnt work. any suggestions or if you own a versa or yaris anything would help. im a 20 year old male, from illinois so the snow is a problem as well. thanks

A: Check out a Honda Element gas mileage is great for a SUV, might be a little high than your price range but it is an excellent car. gets around 22 highway. which isn’t bad for only 20 miles. i now drive 75 one way so I had to step up to get something closer to 30 I got a Dodge Caliber Check that one out too cause it is a great little car in your price range and comfortable.

Q: im buying a new car and need some help with my trade-in value..?
so i go to the dealer and am going to buy an 06 toyota matrix for 17,100. i have a 2001 lincoln ls with the v8 loaded, so they offer 5,700 trade in. my car is in perfect condition inside and out, the guy said my car had been in a side accident well i see nothing wrong. there is some paint on the back by the key opening to the trunk some bubbling in three diff spots and some cover up paint on the front bumper but other than that this car is perfect. the retail on kbb.com is 12,000. what is a legit price for me to comprosmise with these guys. i owe 6,500 on it. 5,000 i think is bullshit. thanks alot.

p.s. i live in illinois, the dealer says that more than likely my car will end up in florida for some mexican or black to buy, how bout that. im selling it bc of the high price of gas. i pay 290 a month with 20mpg i put 250 in a month. so i think it might be hard for me to sell it now. what do you think on this.

A: Retail book on KBB is so wildly different from WHOLESALE trade in that you can’t even begin to compare. Think about the dealer cost if he’s going to try and get 12K for an 01 Lincoln. He’s gotta git the car inspected, reconditioned, safety checked, smogged, put on at least a 30 day warranty, clean it, floor it, advertise, and try and make a profit. If someone comes in and sees an 01 Lincoln selling for 12K they’ll wanna pay 9K and the dealer will sell for 10K. Well, after buying it from you for 5700, and putting 3K into it to repair the damage and all the other stuff, they’ll own the car for 8700. Sell for 10K and make 1300 bucks. Not bad.

But if they buy your Lincoln for 12K they’ll own it for 15K and try and sell it for, what, 18K? Yeah right.

You’ll NEVER EVER EVER get RETAIL BOOK for your car when you trade it in. Either sell it on your own (which takes time, effort, patience and money) or trade it in but understand that the dealer is just trying to make a fair profit while giving you the best deal they can muster.

Seriously, does it benefit the dealership to have you leave and go elsewhere? Wouldn’t it be wise for them to make you a deal that you couldn’t say “no” to and was still economically profitable for them?

They’re working with you, not against.

But if you want 12K for your car you gotta go find a sucker off the street. The dealership won’t ever give you that.

Q: going to illinois and planning to rent a car?
can someone from the area please tell me how the driving scene is. im from a small state and ill be new to highways and lots of traffic and ill be mainly driving from great lakes to chicago and maybe the aurora area. what times should i watch out for, any advice to help me, im very nervous. ill be bringing a GPS as well. thanks for any help you can offer and advice.

A: No need to be nervous. Do you think the guy in front of you cares what you think when your following him?
Your right there are a lot of cars but most of the time we can hardly go the speed limit.
Your already use to going 65 on the 2 lane state highways so even if the volume of traffic is heavy & moving, the speed should be no problem as it’s only 55.
The Great Lakes area will not have a lot of traffic & Aurora will be about the same.
Traffic is heaviest at the morning rush 6 A.M. to around 8 A.M. & again from about 4 P.M. to 6.
You have GPS so what’s the worst that can happen? You get off at the next exit. turn & get back on the highway.
Just don’t stop & ask for directions if you think the area doesn’t look good. Get right back on the highway.
You’ll be fine.

Q: Car loan with bad credit in Illinois?
I am currently buying my car thru the bank. My grandma co-signed for me, but I am wanting to get a new car and I don’t think she would co-sign again. I have crappy credit, and only make about $1,050 a month. I have been at my job for 4 years. My car is a 2000 Cavalier with 116,600 miles on it. It is in good shape except a little rust and could use some touch up’s on paint n a few places. The radiatop also needs something done (I had to use stop leek once). Any suggestions?

A: Try Gateway Chevrolet.
My old neighbor bought a car from them 6 months after he filed bankruptcy.

If you live in the Chicago area, watch channel 62 in the evenings. They always have car dealer commercials for credit challenged people.

Q: Do I need a new car? I have a 2005 Altima now, but with 3 kids and one a baby on the way is it large enough?
I’m just thinking since we drive from Wyoming to Illinois frequently that with a car seat, the kids won’t be comfortable. My 14 yo usually sits up front so my 12yo can stretch out in the back and they switch up when needed but a car seat will make this impossible.

Should I trade up to a minivan?
Oops…2 kids and one on the way!
My older kids’ dad is dead and the new baby’s sperm donor is MIA. Though if I didn’t mention a father, you shouldn’t either. It’s rude.

The keep the seatbelts on, just sorta turn sideways and stretch out their legs.

A: naaaa, just stick with what you have

Q: new car audio installation?
what can i do to professionally install my new audio system? are there any books out there? what about classes in illinois?

A: Professionalism comes with experience not books or classes. I have learned 50 times more through experience than I did with 4 years of college. My professors should have been paying me for teaching them stuff they didn’t know because it wasn’t in their books.
To get it done professionally, take it to a professional. To learn how to do it yourself, read the instructions that come with every piece of equipment on the market. There’s way to much to learn to tell you in here. For books or classes go to www.google.com and search for “car audio books” or “automotive electronics courses in Illinois”.

Q: From IL buying a car out of state (NY), how do I get temporary plates?
I’m from Illinois and I plan on buying a car from a person in New York. I plan on driving the car back to Illinois, but am not sure how temporary plates/stickers work. How can I get some temporary plates? Do I get them in Illinois beforehand or in New York?

A: You can’t get temp tags in NY, unless you have a NY auto policy. Plus, they’re no good outside of NY.

What you need to do, is handle all the money part of this first – have the title shipped to you, take the title to the IL DMV, and get REAL IL tags for the car, bring them with you when you go to pick up the car, and attach them.

Q: Registering a Car in Illinois?
I am moving to Illinois this August and want to register a car there that I purchased in Virginia in May. I will be having my car shipped from Virginia to Illinois and I would like to know what I need to bring to the DMV to have my car registered. I purchased the car from a private party and I already have the title transfered to my name. I will be a new resident of Chicago and I would like to know which documents I need to bring to the DMV to have my car registered there.
Are Illinois DMV difficult to deal with? I am worried because I purchased the car in Virginia in May and in the web site it says the car needs to be registered 30 days after the purchase. Will I have to pay any fees for that?

Thanks

A: The only place where you can get accurate information (well, maybe :-] ), is from the Illinois DMV themselves. Call them or look on their web page.

You should never rely on answers you get on YA about legal issues.

Q: Does anyone know how much it costs to have brakes repaired on a car in illinois?
I have a 2003 ford focus and j/recently, the brakes have been giving me issues. They make a bad noise that scares me when i drive! tonight it sounded like something was dragging underneath my car! I was just wondering if anyone knew or had an estimate of how much new brakes might cost in the Ottawa area of Illinois…thanks!

A: Go to www.google.com
Next type automotive repair ottawa, il
Then thousands of shops phone numbers will come up.
Then pick up your phone and ask them.

Q: A dealer bought my and I bought a new one from a different dealership how do I get a tax credit?
Car was sold in Illinois and bought my new one in Iowa.
When I mention tax credit I mean the sales tax credit.
I was told from the dealer that if I bought a car in the future I would have a sales tax credit on the purchase….seems fishy, hopefully i didn’t get screwed.

A: The way to get sales tax credit would be to trade your car in on the new purchase at the same dealership. Not all states offer tax credit, such as Michigan, however I know Illinois does. I don’t have my charts with me, so I don’t know if Iowa offers credit.

It sounds like you may have sold your car to Carmax and purchased your vehicle from a different dealership. You loose the credit that way, however if the dealership was offering you much less than Carmax or the dealership you sold it to was, then you still came out ahead. Your situation happens a lot, specially if Carmax gives you more for your trade. I would suggest getting your vehicle appraised by say Carmax and compare it to what the dealership is giving you. Compare your

<trade x sales tax> v/s Carmax trade in. I hope this helps you!

Q: My 2007 car was stolen. Will insurance give me blue book value only or also tax I need to pay for new car?
Description pretty much covers it. This is in Illinois and I’m wondering if I will be getting screwed out of the ~$1,300 of tax on buying another similar vehicle. If so, it really sucks how the insurance companies handle this.

A: Book value.

Not blue book, but actual book value,. which tends to be about 20-30% less than you’d think.

And no, they don’t care at all about taxes. That’s not their problem. All they had to do was insure the value of your last car. Not provide you with another one.

Q: My Friend just bought a Brand new car from the dealer today can she still return it?
She purchased a 2009 car today and realized that she made a mistake by buying on impulse…can she still take it back. I think I have heard that you can take a car back to the dealer for a full refund within 3 business days of the date you signed papers. Is this true?

She lives in Illinois

A: She will probably be able to return it, but it won’t be free. She will have to pay penalties for breaking a contract. It’s not going to be pretty. It all depends on the stealership.

Q: can you get license plates if your license is suspended in the state of illinois?
i got my licence suspended and now my parents bought me a new car and need me to get plates for it. can i get license plates for my car if my license is suspended?

A: Yes, assuming of course that you can get insurance coverage for it. That may be difficult with a suspended license, and you need to show proof of insurance to get plates.

Q: Do I have to get new plates for my car now?
I moved from Illinois to Indiana, the plates on my car though dont expire till October. Can I wait till then to get new ones? I have to get my drivers liscense switched to a Indiana one, so I don’t know if that makes a difference. Thanks!

A: I had the same problem when i moved to Indiana from California, if you have out of state plates and a out of state drivers licence, just wait till October and get both of them done at the same time, you usually have problems when you move from a state that gives you one plate like Indiana, to a state that makes you have front and back plates like Illinois, and California.

Q: Illinois: What is the percentage the IRS can garnish from my payroll to pay for past taxes?
1) I owe the IRS $$
2) What percent can/will they collect from my payroll?
3) I get paid twice a month
4) Does the percentage depend on how much money you make?
5) Does the percentage depend on how much money you owe?

I owe 24,000 (kinda like a new car)

A: Because you owe the IRS they can garnish up to 40% of your gross income. It doesn’t matter how much money you make or who you owe. The way it is seen is that you owed them first and therefore that debt is your first obligation. Good luck!

Q: 7 months in Illinois 5 in Florida,do I need to change my driver license and license plates every time?
My husband got a new job, and he has to be in Illinois for 7 months and in florida for 5. Does anybody know if we would have to change our mailing address, drivers license and our cars license plates every 5 and 7 months?

A: Unless he is in the military or a full time college student, yes you do have to change

Q: how much do license plates cost in the state of Illinois?
i just got a new car so…. and can the car be in my name? im under age(16)

A: I havent had to buy new plates in a long time but i believe they are $78.00. You should have already paid taxes at the dealership so that should be the only amount to pay unless you want a vanity plate.

Q: Car Insurance for my 16 year old in Illinois. My ex husband is buying him a brand new 07 Chrysler Sebring.?
He doesn’t deserve it either. My son has been living with his dad for the past 2 years. He get horrible grades and has no responsibility none whatso ever. They are asking me to look into how much it would be for insurance on my plan. So anyone have any ideas?
I know it will be alot. I want to get the info to show that it is tooooo much.
I am totally against this idea of him getting a new car and I will not have it on my insurance. I agree, he lives with his dad, his dad is going to have to put it on his policy.

A: If the car is in his name then it will be a bunch of money.

If it is in one of your names, and he is not listed as the principle driver, then it will still be a fair amount but not near as bad as having the car in his name.

The boy needs to be listed as the principle driver on the worst car that you have. By that, I mean the oldest and cheapest car that you own.

It must be nice to be 16 and have a new car. It took me a long time to get mine, and it was a cheap one to boot, but I paid for it by myself and that was a good feeling.

Just hopes he doesn’t wreck it, or your insurance will hit the roof. good luck

Q: Ok, about buying a new vehicle which runs on corn (ethanol)?
I heard the gas made out of corn is cheaper than the gas bought from Mobile or Exxon. What kind of cars run on corn fuel and how do you know if your car is able to use it?
I live in Illinois and I am interested in alternative fuel to support our farmers, and think I should buy my next car to support the gas made out of corn. There is corn and soybean fields on all 4 sides of me in the summer time. What kinds of cars run on the new corn gas, and how hard is it to find at a gas station in Illinois?

A: Get a cow. They run directly on corn though it is more economical to supplement with grass and other wild vegetables. They do produce a lot of greenhouse gas though and give a rather bumpy ride. They are prone to stopping wherever there is fresh green grass, though that is not always a bad thing. They give milk too, so always take cookies when riding a cow.

Oh, and be certain it is not a bull. No milk, nasty disposition, unbearably bumpy ride while it lasts. Do NOT try milking it but always be ready to run like the blazes.

Q: How long does it take to get a replacement title in Illinois?
I’m buying a car from a friend of mine in Illinois. He said he lost the title (its a salvage title if that makes a difference) when he was cleaning out his work desk. Does anyone know how long the DMV typically takes to get a new title issued?

A: It will depend on how backed up they are. It took 3 weeks when we applied for one.

Q: car title question, Illinois?
I bought a brand new car eight months ago, it is not paid off yet. Do I still get a title? I’ve never received the title.

A: The bank has the title, they own it. You only get the title when it’s paid off.

You should have registration.

You only need the title if you want to sell it.

Q: Moving To Other State. How Can I Make Title and Registration For Car?
I’m student in New York State College and I have Illinois Driver License.
I bought a car 5 months ago and it is title and registered in New York State.
Right now, Im planning to title and register my car to illinois state.
But I cant drive to illinois DMV right now (School work).
So is there anyway i can get title and register my car to illinois while Im in New York State?
Im not sure how to start and what to do.
Please help.

A: I’m pretty sure you will have to go to the DMV in person. You can call them and see. I would just wait till I have time if it was me.

Hope this helps and good luck

Q: What steps do I need to take to transfer the title on my car to another person. What else do I need to do?
I live in Illinois and I am selling the car as a private owner.
The car is not currently insured because I just bought a new car and transfered the insurance to that car.

A: If you have the title, sign in sellor section, have buyer sign in buyer section. Give him the paperwork so he can go to DMV and start his transfer. Make sure you get the buyers information and do a Release of Liability. Keep copies for your records.

Q: Where Can I Sell My Used Chrome 20″ Rims At In Chicago,IL?
Im Looking To Sell My 20″ Chrome Car Rims THeir In Excellent Condition Looking For Nothing Less Then 1300.00 The rims Comes With Khumo Tires.

A: There is a website called craig’s list. If you go to it, you can pick your city and list them for sell on it. It is free classified ads

Q: Used car buying questions!!!!?
I am planning to drive to Oregon for college from the Chicago area and I’m saving up for a car that will take me there. I figured out that I could have around $5,000 for the car. Could I by a used car with that much that would survive that trip?

What kind of cars should I look at?
What should I know about buying a used car?
How should I go about buying it- used car lot? newspaper classifieds?

Thanks so much!!!

A: It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota… First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car – for example here – autoinsurance.bebto.com

Q: Chicago police mars lightbar?
Looking for an older Mars lightbar that was used in the 70’s & 80’s on Chicago police cars!

A: I remember the bars, but not the manufacture res name.

There were two rotating gum balls and the brake lights were opposite the wig wag adam 12 lights. They were blue.

There are only a few mainstream companies making them, and out of those, only a few were around back then.

Try Federal Signals, Code 3 (doubtful, or Whelan (doubtful).

If your looking for a functioning bar, good luck. The old rotator bars had a street life of about 7 years, and parts now are hard to find. You may want to try ebay.

Q: Can I Use A Debit Card with MasterCard Logo to rent a car in chicago?
Which rental car companies would accept?

A: Alamo will as long as you show a round trip ticket showing you have a flight back to your hometown.

Q: What is this song used in the movie Chicago Cab?
The song is played during the scene where the cab driver goes into a rage at the wheel of his car. The song doesn’t appear on the soundtrack CD. Thanks!

A: You should call Hollywood and say, “Hey. You. I’m talking to you, so listen up. Tell me what this song is, or else I’m gonna get mad.”

That should be all you need to know. Hopefully that works.

Q: What’s a good station to use for ipod radio transmitters in Chicago?
I live in the burbs of Chicago, and I can’t find a good blank station to use for my ipod transmitter thing on my car radio. I don’t have a cassette player or direct connection to use either of those, so I need the radio kind. Does anyone have a good station thats pretty reliable? 104.5 was working ok for a while but not so much anymore
+ southwest suburbs, no more than 30 mins away from Chicago

A: Since I don’t know which burb you live in, try this website instead:

http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/vacant

Q: What transportation can I use to go from Chicago to Wisconsin Dells?
Hi,
My husband and I are new to interstate travel and we are not wanting to take the car – is there a good way to get there from here in Chicago to the Wisconsin Dells area where they have the water boat rides and amusement parks?

Thanks for any suggestions in advanced.

A: Train

http://www.trainweb.org/usarail/empirebuilder.htm

Q: Which is the best car rental copany to use out of Chicago O’hare?

A: Your best bet is to go to a booking site, like Travelocity or Expedia and check multiple car rental companies for O’hare. Find the cheapest car rental company for your trip, and then try going to that car rental company’s website directly to see if they have any specials or deals that will give you a lower rate. Use a coupon code if you have one.

When searching for internet car rental specials, you can also try to check car rental rates using a discount code. There are hundreds of membership programs and professional associations that offer car rental discount codes to their members. You can find a list of car rental discount codes for 8 major car rental companies, at http://www.best-car-rental-tips.com/discount-codes.html

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Q: Who can I use to ship a car from Chicago to Fort Myers, FL?
I know there are companies out there that do this and need a recommendation. Also, how much does that cost and how long does it usually take?

A: try total reloctation its a division of mayflower son in law works for and has loaded many cars and trucks he drives over the road based in n.c but drives all over

Q: How do I get to Iron Mountain Michigan From Chicago?
Im trying to go and visit my girlfriend…Im not allowed to use the car…I would be leaving on the November 7th after 4:00pm and I need to be back by November 10th at 7:00 am………..ive looked at greyhound….and flying is to expensive…PLEASE HELP ME!

A: sorry one of your parents will have to drive you

Q: How would i get from chicago,il to harvey,il using public transportation because i dont have a car?

A: What about the Metra? Check out their web site. They may not be able to get you to downtown Harvey, but it can get you pretty close.

Q: Going on vacation to Chicago for 9 days. Will I need a car?
My girlfriend and I are going to Chicago for 9 days the first week of July. We are staying in the city, do we still need a car to get around? Is it smarter to have a car or should we use the trains and cabs since gas is so high?

Thanks for the help!

A: No. Use public transportation as your first option. It’s the cheapest and best choice. It’s not that hard to get around on the CTA, although it may seem daunting. It’s $1.75 for the bus and $2 for the train, and I think it’s an extra 25 cents to transfer to another bus or train (Don’t quote me on that). YOu can also get a visitor’s pass that lets you take unlimited rides for the time you’re here. You can even order a visitor’s pass ahead of time and have it mailed to you before you get here. Or you can pick one up at these machines at O’Hare or Midway airport. Below is a link to the map of the CTA bus and train routes and a like to the info on the visitors pass. Figure out where you want to go and you can figure out how to get there on the bus or train.

Q: How much is deducted after each use of the Chicago Card?
I would like to calculate which method of public transportation would be cheaper for the month–a chicago card or a 30-day bus pass?

The 30-day pass is $75. I have no idea how Chicago card deducts money for each use. I know with transit cards, sometimes they deduct $2 the first time, then a lower amount. Still not sure about the pattern within a given time. Anyone who knows or has a good link for how to find this out, please let me know. I’ve tried chicagocard and chicagotransitauthority.com but haven’t found out about how much is deducted each time.

*I’m travelling across the city to downtown, and a car is not an option for me.

A: $1.75 and a quarter for transfers within I think three hours.

So if you’re like me, I have a Chicago Card and I take the bus over to the elevated train, it costs me $1.75 to get on the bus then a quarter to get on the train so $2 or…

Bus/Train – $1.75
1st Transfer – $.20
2nd Transfer – Free

Q: i need a used hubcap for a mitsubishi galant 2000?
i was wondering if anyone knew of a place in chicago or suburbs that sells used hubcaps for my car.

A: You can check out a place online called U Need A Part, http://www.uneedapart.com. You make a request on there and they will send it to hundreds of salvage yards across the US and Canada who in turn will respond back with prices and such. It’s a great service and the prices are very competative. Good luck!

Q: How would I go about looking for a car from 1980-1989 in the chicago land area besides using the internet?

A: Try the newspaper

Q: where does chicago tow their cars?

A: To the impound yard that has the contract for the ward your car was towed in.

Go to http://www.chicagopolice.org/vehicles/ and enter your VIN and plate number to find out if it was towed, and where.

Q: how to leave united center chicago without a car safely?
hello, i’m a french tourist in Chicago in october-november, i’m planning to buy tickets for madonna, but i read a lots of bad critics about the neigborough of united center, can i leave easily and safely to me hotel by metro or taxi? thank you

A: If you’re going to a major concert at the United Center, you don’t have to worry too much about safety. There will be a gazillion other people, cops all around, etc. Just catch a cab or even ride the bus down Madison Street to and from the show. Other people going to the show will be riding the bus as well. Stop worrying, it’s no big deal.

Q: How long would it take me to drive from Houston, Texas to Downtown Chicago by car?
Does anyone know?

A: From Houston to Dallas, it takes about 5 hrs. From Dallas to Chicago, it can range from 14~16 hrs depending on how heavy your foot is on the pedal.

Q: Why is it all I saw in Chicago were foreign cars being driven?
I was absolutely disgusted with what I saw – it still makes me mad today. I have been wanting to visit Chicago for a long time – so excited about my trip. Entering the city (horrific traffic) it was nothing but Acura, Honda, Toyota, etc. My spouse said that the Big City Thinking… to me it’s disgusting. Where is the patriotism/pride for America in Chicago? It seems to be lacking.
“Regular” American, if you are an expert in the Chicago category, then you would know of the stand still traffic we had to deal with. I even started counting cars along the way. I stopped counting at 40 cars – only one was a Jeep and the other a Ford. That’s what I mean as my “sweeping” statement. I could have done it easily time and time again as it took us over 1 hour and 20 minutes to get past Chicago. The traffic also made me sick and I would not deal with it every day as a commute, but it was the fact that there were very few Ford, Chrysler or GM cars. As for those who talk about the quality – get out of the 70’s, cars made today are not what they were way back when. You can’t use “quality” as your lame excuse for not backing America.

A: It is the mentality above that has gotten us into the predicament we are in. I work with small businesses that supply parts to Ford, GM and Chrysler. Every week 20-40 of them are going out of business because they no longer have business from the Big 3. People don’t seem to understand that what they are buying IS affecting everyone around them. It’s very hard to see good decent people now struggling who had thriving businesses a few years ago. Some of the suppliers do supply parts for Honda, Toyota, etc., but for the most part it is majority GM, Ford and Chrysler.

I have proudly driven Chrysler and GM all my life. I’ve never had a clunker and owned my cars for years with no problems. If you don’t like what you saw in Chicago, stay away from NYC also – you’ll see the same thing there.

Q: How long does it take to get from Janesville Wi, to Chicago?
please tell me how long does it take to get from janesville to chicago by car

A: Two hours for sure. Janesville is a good 20 minutes from Beloit, and thats another 20 minutes to Rockford. that almost a whole hour right there. Rockford to Chicago is about an hour and a half. Depending on traffic in the city it could take longer.

Q: Where can I download cars and tracks for Midtown Madness 1 (Midtown Madness Chicago Edition)?

A: try searching up your inquiry on yahoo or google.

Q: I noticed that a lot of cars on the chicago craigslist are priced very cheap and many are flagged why is this?
I dont know if these low prices are typical for the Chicago area or if there are a lot of scams on the site?

A: I do not know what they get out of scamming but i have been looking at cars on craiglist for 3 weeks now and see about 20-30 flagged cars a day or that should be. i know if it is 2000 or newer and asking 4,000 or less it is fake 99% of the time. very frustrating for a guy looking for a real car. i hope you find a good answer because i don’t know why they do this. would love to know why they do but i also wish they would knock off.

Q: I am buying a car from chicago but the title is at the bank. how can i drive it back to my city in ohio?
i am going to chicago tomorrow to buy this car. I live in cleveland ohio. The seller doesn’t have the title.the title is at the bank and he can’t get it before 2 or 3 days. i need to drive the car back from chicago to cleveland. How can i do it? can i get a 30 days temporary tag from chicago even though the guy doesn’t have the title? can i drive the car with his plate on it and once he sent me the title i will go ahead and ship his plate back?

A: if you pay him for the car before you get the title in your hand.you may lose all you money and not even get to keep the car

if his tags are good and he has insurance on the car yes you can use his and drive it. thats the only legal way i know of other than a rollback or trailer and once more DO NOT PAY FOR THAT CAR TILL YOU HAVE SIGNED TITLE IN HAND

Q: What is the best way to get from Chicago to Grand Rapids without a car?
I go to school in Chicago, and I want to go visit my friend at Calvin College in Grand Rapids. What is the fastest way to get there without a car? I am a college student, so I can’t afford to spend that much on tickets. Any suggestions?

A: Amtrak will cost about $90.00 round trip…2 trains. See below:

http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?cid=1080072922209&pagename=Amtrak%2FPage%2FRoutes_Index_Page&c=Page

Greyhound bus has service but advises to call …800 231-2222

American Airlines has several flights. If you leave 10/10 and return 10/13 I found flights at $84.00 each way…other flights are +$400.00 each way. Taxes and fees will be added to fares. See below:

https://www.aa.com/aa/reservation/breadCrumbOptionsSubmit.do?breadCrumb=startOver&bookingPathStateId=1223502483159-752&fromSearchPage=true

Q: any good hispanic neighborhoods in chicago where i can go and graffiti up a few cars and homes?
they seem to like grafiti(spelling) so i’d like to go at night and draw on their cars and homes.

A: Pilsen, Humbolt Park, Marquette Park. Have fun! The Latin Kings sure enjoy tagging Wicker Park so why not help them out with their own neighborhoods? Just be prepared to be shot at by those savages.

Q: Is there any must-go attractions at outskirts of Chicago where we should rent a car to get there?
i’m planning a trip to Chicago and now debating if I should rent a car or just take the local transportation to tour around. as far as i know from research, most of great attractions are in downtown area where we can just take train to get there. is there any other attractions in the outskirt area we should visit as a first time visitor?

A: if youre a shopper make sure to hit up michigan avenue, also there are some great outlet malls in gurnee as well as aurora, but im sure your not just coming to chicago to shop

im not sure when youre coming but definitely check out if great america is open its a giant theme park as well as water park,
but other than that everything worthwhile is downtown chicago, shedd aquarium, museuems navy pier etc

Q: how well do ford cars handle the snow?
i live in suburbs of chicago and am car shopping, i looked at ford escapes but seem to be out of my price range. so i was wondering how well an actual ford car performs in the snow?

A: I have the Ford Focus and it handles really well in snow. Like any car, you have to take it easy and go slow, but I’ve had my Focus for three winters now, and I drive on bad country roads in the snow, and I’ve only spun out once. I really like it!

Q: How do you get to Starved rock from Chicago without a car?
I can’t find a greyhound or shuttle to get out there.

A: You could either take Amtrak to Mendota, which is about 15 miles from Starved Rock. Or, Greyhound goes to LaSalle which is about 10 miles away. From there you’ll need to call a cab company to schedule rides (unlike Chicago, cabs in the area are only available on a call-ahead basis)

Q: how long is a train ride from chicago to lake forset college?
I’m going on a trip to Lake Forest College in llinois, and i was wondering how long it would take me to get there by riding the train and if i was to take a car from chicago?

A: An hour – check out the schedule for Union Pacific North Line:

Q: Does anyone know the name of the companies in Chicago or suburbs that provide a car wrapped in their logo?
I have heard that there are companies that will provide you with a car with advertisements or logos on it. The company wants you to advertise while you drive. The company also pays you to drive the car or van. I know there was a program on television that was talking about it but I don’t remember the program’s title.Does anyone know of the website or company that is located in Chicago or suburbs? Thank-you guys in advance for your help.

A: I know exactly what you’re talking about. I saw an expose on the news about this. There are companies that pay you to drive around in one of their mobile billboard vehicles, but the lists are really long. Who woudln’t want a free car?

There are other companies though, who specialize in ‘wrapping’ your vehicle with an advertisement and they will pay you monthly for putting miles on your car – anywhere from $50-$2000 depending on the size of the ad and the amount of driving you do. Take a look at the following websites….

Hope this helps!
